Kirsten Caroline Dunst was born on April 30, 1982 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She was born to Klaus Hermann Dunst, a German and New Jersey-born Inez Rupprecht. Her father was a restorative administration official while her mom owned an art exhibition and was an airline steward. She has a more youthful brother named Christian. She lived with her family in Brick Township, New Jersey where she went to Ranney School until her parents split in 1993 when she moved to Los Angeles with her mom and sibling. Dunst went to Laurel Hall School in North Hollywood and then Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California where she graduated from in 2000.

Kirsten Dunst is engaged to Jesse Plemons, her co-star from the TV show, Fargo. The pair progressed toward becoming guardians on May 3, 2018, when their child, Ennis Howard Plemons was born. They met on the set arrangement of Fargo in 2016 and got engaged in mid 2017.
