Kayleigh McEnany is an American political commentator, lawyer, and former White House Press Secretary. She is currently the National Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee.
Early Life
Kayleigh McEnany was born on April 18, 1988 in Tampa, Florida. She is the daughter of Michael and Leanne McEnany. Her father is a successful real estate investor and her mother is a former school teacher. She attended the Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, Florida and graduated in 2006. She then attended Georgetown University, where she graduated cum laude with a degree in international politics in 2010. She went on to attend Harvard Law School, where she graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2016.
Career
McEnany began her career in politics as a research assistant for the 2008 presidential campaign of John McCain. She then worked as a producer for Mike Huckabee’s Fox News show, Huckabee. In 2012, she became a political commentator for CNN, appearing on various shows such as The Situation Room and Anderson Cooper 360. She left CNN in 2017 and joined the Trump administration as the National Spokesperson for the Republican National Committee.
In April 2020, McEnany was appointed White House Press Secretary by President Donald Trump. She was the fourth person to hold the position during the Trump administration. As Press Secretary, she was responsible for communicating the administration’s policies and initiatives to the public. She held the position until the end of the Trump administration in January 2021.
In March 2021, McEnany was appointed National Press Secretary for the Republican National Committee. In this role, she is responsible for communicating the party’s message to the public and media outlets.
Personal Life
McEnany is married to Sean Gilmartin, a former professional baseball player. The couple has one daughter, Blake Avery Gilmartin.
McEnany is an active member of the Republican Party and is a strong supporter of President Donald Trump. She is also a devout Catholic and is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
