Johnny Weir is known as a pro figure skater. He is most famous for being a three-time U.S. champion and a World Championships medalist.
Background
John Garvin "Johnny" Weir was born on July 2, 1984, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Bashful and unassuming as a child, Weir battled to fit in with different kids his age. He was an unbalanced, thin, smart, and driven child. He was somewhat antisocial without many friends. His mom, Patti Moore Weir, worked as a home inspector, while his father John Weir, a former high school linebacker, scarcely worked. He was harmed in a fender bender the time of his child's introduction to the world and hurt his back, leading him to go on disability.
Weir was 11 years of age when he initially tried on a couple of skates and attempted to advance around patches of ice in the terrace of his home. Inside seven days, he was already playing out a great axel bounce. While not flush with extra cash, Weir's folks bolstered his skating dreams. They viewed in wonder as their child immediately climbed through the positions. The family moved to New Jersey so he could live closer to his coach and the arena.
Spouse
In 2011, following quite a while of rumors about his sexuality, Weir conceded he was gay. He made the declaration through his life story, Welcome to My World. In January 2018, on the wings of ice skater Adam Rippon turning into the first openly gay American man participating in the Winter Olympics, Weir clarified by means of Twitter why he came out after his second Olympics and not during. He said that he did not want his sexuality to be a distraction while he was competing.
On December 20, 2012, Weir married his sweetheart, Victor Voronov, in New York City. The couple finished their marriage and separated in 2015.
Skating Career and Net Worth
Only five years after first taking a stab at a couple of skates, Weir won the gold medal at the 2001 World Junior Championships. After three years, Weir won his first U.S. Figure Skating Championship, a title he protected effectively in 2005 and 2006.
At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Weir proved to be a star. Journalists rushed to cover Weir who wound up completing fifth overall. After four years, at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, Weir completed 6th.
Weir was asked to play a character known as Egg on a new show called the Masked Singer in 2019. In October 2019, the dedicated fans of the Masked Singer were upset when one of the judges, Jenny McCarthy stated on Twitter that the show was going on a break.
