Early Life
John Stossel was born on March 6, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in a Jewish family and attended the University of Chicago, where he earned a degree in psychology. After college, he worked as a reporter for WTTW-TV in Chicago, where he won an Emmy Award for his investigative reporting.
Career
In 1977, Stossel joined ABC News as a consumer reporter. He quickly rose to prominence, becoming a regular contributor to the network's newsmagazine 20/20 in 1981. He served as a co-anchor of the show from 2003 to 2009. During his time at ABC, Stossel won 19 Emmy Awards for his reporting.
In 2009, Stossel left ABC News to join the Fox Business Network as a commentator. He also writes a syndicated column for Creators Syndicate, which is published in newspapers across the country.
