Early Life
Sofía Vergara is a Colombian-American actress, model, and businesswoman. She was born on July 10, 1972, in Barranquilla, Colombia. She is the daughter of Margarita Vergara, a homemaker, and Julio Vergara, a cattle rancher. She has five siblings, two sisters, and three brothers.
Vergara was raised in Barranquilla and attended Marymount International School, a private bilingual Spanish/English school. She studied pre-dentistry at a university in Colombia for three years before moving to Miami, Florida, in the United States in 1998.
Career
Vergara began her career as a model and television presenter in Colombia. She was discovered by a photographer while walking on a Colombian beach and was quickly presented with offers of modeling and television work.
