Background and Age

Derrick Lamar Henry Jr. was born on January 4, 1994, in Yulee, FL. He went to Yulee High School where he was a three-sport star in football, basketball, and track. He played for the Yulee Hornets football crew as a running back and he ran for 2,465 yards and 26 scores as a green bean in 2009. Derrick, in 2010, was named a first-group All-Coast at running back, in the wake of rushing for 2,788 yards and 38 scores while averaging 8.9 yards per endeavor. In 2011, he scrambled for 2,610 yards and 34 scores as a junior, to gain first-group All-Coast respects from the Florida Times-Union.

He set the Florida high school record with a 510-yard performance against Jacksonville Jackson and averaged 9.2 yards per carry and 327.8 yards per game as a senior, subsequently completing the season with a state-record 4,261 yards and 55 scores. Derrick completed his high school football career with 12,124 career rushing yards, which broke Ken Hall's career record and furthermore scrambled for 153 career scores.

Derrick played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He broke Herschel Walker's single-season school rushing yards record in the SEC in December 2015.

Career and Net Worth

In 2016, Derrick joined the NFL and was signed by the Tennessee Titans to a four-year, $5.40 million contract. He would end up having multiple successful seasons for his new team. In July 2020, the Tennessee Titans and their star running back Derrick Henry agreed on a four-year, $50 million contract.

In the previous season, ‪Henry won the NFL rushing title with 1,540 yards last season and has posted sequential seasons of in excess of 1,000 yards. Of all NFL running backs, Henry's pace of 5.1 yards per carry was the highest. Henry proved to be an important part of Tennessee's offense, particularly in the final games.

Entering the AFC Championship Game, Henry had represented a bulk of the group's offense. During Tennessee's race to the playoff games, Henry turned into the first player to scramble for at least 180 yards in three back to back games. The fourth-year running back took on a leadership role with the Titans, drawing acclaim from coach Mike Vrabel.

Derrick Henry's $12.5 million deal is the fifth-highest among current RB contracts. Henry's franchise tag estimation of $10.3M for 2020 would have also put him fifth among running backs.
