Delbert Hosemann is an American politician who has served as the Secretary of State of Mississippi since 2008. He is a member of the Republican Party and has been a major force in the state's politics for over two decades.

Early Life and Education

Delbert Hosemann was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1952. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1974. He then went on to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1977.

Political Career

Hosemann began his political career in 1979, when he was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives. He served in the House for eight years, during which time he was a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Appropriations Committee. In 1987, he was elected to the Mississippi Senate, where he served for the next 21 years. During his time in the Senate, he was the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and the Appropriations Committee.

In 2008, Hosemann was elected as the Secretary of State of Mississippi. He was re-elected in 2011 and 2015, and is currently serving his third term.
