Claire Catherine Danes was born on April 12, 1979, in New York City, New York. Her father, Chris, was a photographer and PC specialist. Her mother, Carla was a material designer. Growing up, Claire had a strong enthusiasm for acting that resulted in her parents enrolling her in a performing arts school.
Career and Net Worth
Claire Danes became a young acting star when she handled the featuring role of Angela Chase, an inquisitive, hyper-astute teenager in the ABC series My So-Called Life, which debuted in 1994. My So-Called Life proved to be a hit with pundits, with Danes winning a Golden Globe for best actress.
After the success of her show, Danes started to advance onto the big screen. She made her feature film debut in 1994's Little Women, along with big names like Kirsten Dunst, Christian Bale, and Winona Ryder. She co-featured with Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet (1996), delighted in a significant role in The Rainmaker (1997) and was cast as Cosette in an update of Victor Hugo's classic story Les Misérables (1998).
Danes returned to TV gold with Showtime's Homeland. Appearing in 2011, the series featured Dane as CIA specialist Carrie Mathison, who is worried about a Marine sergeant of being associated with a potential terrorist plot. The role brought Dane solid reviews and various honors, including the Emmys in 2012 and 2013 for exceptional lead actress in a drama series. Following eight seasons, Homeland signed off in April 2020.
Danes eventually returned back to doing films in the 2017 comedy Brigsby Bear and the 2018 drama A Kid Like Jake. She is expected to take on more movie roles after the end of her popular TV show.
Marriage, Husband, and Children
In late 2003, American actor, Billy Crudup and his better half of 8 years, Mary-Louise Parker who was around 7 months pregnant with his child, separated. Crudup had proceeded onward to his co-star, Claire Danes. The two met while working on the 1997 anime film Princess Mononoke. About two years later, Crudup and Danes parted ways.
Claire Danes married British actor Hugh Dancy in 2009. They held a little wedding service in France. The couple met while working on the 2007 film Evening. They had their first kid together, a child named Cyrus, in December 2012, and invited a subsequent child, Rowan, in August 2018.
