Pinkett Smith and her significant other of 23 years, actor Will Smith, affirmed during a July 2020 episode of her Facebook television show "Red Table Talk" that she had been romantically engaged with Alsina years back. The couple said the relationship started during a period they had isolated. Pinkett Smith has been married to Smith since 1997 and shares two children with him.

Pinkett Smith said during her "Red Table Talk" that she started a friendship with Alsina four and a half years prior which formed into something progressively after she and Smith hit a tough situation in their relationship and consented to agreeably part. Before Jada, August Alsina was engaged with a sentimental relationship with model Analicia Chaves in 2014. He was also associated with Nicki Minaj at one point in his career.
