A. W. Dharmapala (1864-1933) was a Sri Lankan Buddhist leader and social reformer who was instrumental in the revival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. He was born in the village of Dodanduwa in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. He was the son of a wealthy landowner and was educated at the prestigious Ananda College in Colombo.
